My inspiration for this pastel painting was an old abandoned house I found while riding around the farming neighborhood I grew up in northern Alberta. I like a lot of details and depth in my paintings and to my surprise I discovered that the pastel medium allows me to create each one accurately. Achieving the realistic looking weathered wood siding and window on this painting was indeed fulfilling.  Years later, when I decided to sell prints of my originals, I was truly impressed by how my pastel paintings reproduce so beautifully on paper as well as on canvas.
